Energy and Climate Change (EC)

AAU University is increasing its energy efficiency effort, by nature and all that pertains to this issue. The use of clean energy and problems related to climate change will be the indicator for this particular area of interest. Focusing on the use of low consumption appliances, an energy conservation program, construction of green areas, a climate change mitigation and adaptation program, and policies for the use of renewable energy and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

Al Ain University has a policy of improving equipment with low energy consumption in general in the university, and proposes energy efficiency measures: projects where effective consumption is made and that mitigate the consumption of electrical energy. Read more...

Total campus smart building area (m2)

Al Ain University started operating the new expansion building at Al Ain campus in preparation for starting the first semester of the academic year 2019-2020. The operation witnessed the transfer of the College of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, the College of Business, and the College of Communication and Media.

Electricity Usage per Year (in Kilowatt hour)

For more than thirty years, the United Arab Emirates has experienced rapid population growth and economic and industrial development, along with rapidly increasing demand for electricity. In 1975, the total number of electricity customers was 351,531 and total peak loads were just 300MW. Thirty-two years later, in 2007, the number of clients reached 5,182,539 and electricity demand increased, as total peak loads reached 34,953MW.Read more...

Greenhouse gas emission reduction program (EC.7)

At AAU the usage of electricity and consumption of water happens majority during the day time between 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (12 hours) as routine shifts for academic and admin staff is only from 8 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. and the remaining faculties and students at campus could only be until 8.pm. Hence the carbon emission in campus is only limited within this time and the total vehicles used inside campus is approximately 600 per day and the drive in space for vehicles is only within 25km. AUU conducts training on climate change. In addition, in order to increase the dissemination of information, it provides educational material during the development of workshops that are held with communities throughout the country.
