Conservation: plant, animal, and wildlife, genetic resources for food and agriculture secured in either medium or long-term conservation facilities
At Al Ain, we are committed to our strategic plan, which involves establishing an effective program for the conservation and preservation of wildlife. The mission of the program is to develop specialized capacities within research projects, following the best international practices to address the danger of animals in desert environments. Efforts have been made to protect endangered species such as the Arabian Oryx, driven by their belief in the importance of linking development and construction with environmental conservation. In addition, a new project is being carried out in 2022 called "The campus is also our home" to raise awareness about the protection of animals. Within the scope of the project, animal care, protection and care facilities were established.
AAU actively collaborates with the city zoo in efforts to conserve and protect wild and captive animals.
We have been very successful in breeding and maintaining this species by launching a new project that focuses on breeding and releasing sand cats in their natural habitat.

Conservation of plant genetic resources
AAU is committed to the efficient conservation of plant genetic resources against drought, climate change and progressive erosion, for which it carries out plant genetic conservation projects in cooperation with the government and in accordance with the UAE's food security policy.

• Custom LED lighting mimics the rays of the sun to help the plants grow indoors
